A Phase III trial is behind on enrolment. Medical affairs has had no formal role on it until now, and is brought in under pressure to fix something nobody has yet defined.
The information needed to define it already exists: in monitoring reports, in site conversations, in the heads of individual consultants. What is missing is a way to gather it consistently, compare one site against another, and separate the problems field medical can influence from the ones that belong elsewhere.
Without that, more site visits becomes the default answer to every problem, including the ones more site visits were never going to solve.
